Grafted in by God

Righteously Pruned in to the Faith

But if some of the branches were broken off, and you, although a wild olive shoot, were grafted in among the others and now share in the nourishing root of the olive tree, do not be arrogant toward the branches. If you are, remember it is not you who support the root, but the root that supports you.Romans 11:17-18.

Many "churchified" people lost the awe of what it means to be redeemed by Christ. Often, it starts with the haughty assumption that we are morally better than unbelievers. We condescendingly speak to others as though we, somehow, achieved salvation by our own. When we exhaust our self-confidence in God, we become impatient if material success does not follow our single-person parade of self-righteousness. We lose sight of the fact that our True blessing comes from His Grace. We see another day to worship God, instead of ourselves.

But when our faith is about what we get out of this transaction other than exalting God, we wither away into obscurity. We then plant ourselves in humanist ideologies that dethrone God and deify man. We then find our identity in man-centered illusions of intellect and stop loving God and our neighbors.

When our faith is rooted in His Grace, Righteousness, Holiness, Love, Mercy, Eternality, and Sovereignty; we have no room for self-absorption. Why? We are fed, nourished, and groomed by the Root of His Righteousness. Let us never lose sight of this.
